ok well i recently discovered that i am emo, and i want to be as well.I am almost 13. But you see, my family shops at non-emo stores, or stores that dont sell clothes my style. My family does not know that i am emo. I want more emo clothes though. and when i get in high school i want an emo hairstyle and dye my hair a darker color(it is brown) but my family doesnt like emos. ( well my mom, and two sisters, my parents are divorced so i dont see my dad much anymore). No one in my entire family is emo, and ive always sticked out, but how do i tell my family i am emo and get them to let me shop and stores i want and get hairstlyes that fit me. i honestly dont want to be a prep. how do i get my family to let me be emo and accept that?

They probably don't know what emo is. Just explain to them that you like a certain style and their store choices aren't cutting it. They will do one of two things: tell you no and make you keep shopping where they want or they'll give in.

to be honest ...i have no idea what emo is,perhaps your mother doesnt either...tell her what it means and why you would want to chose such style.when my sons wanted ear percings i didnt agree but questioned why they wanted them,after seeing that they really wanted them,i let them have them,to me its not whats on the out side that counts but the inside,honesty is the best policy,tell your mother why its so important to you,and i have this feeling that she may already know,however at your young age your mother does have the last say.
