Okay I want my hair done in an emo hairstyle but I dont know what to tell my hairstylist.

so should I get choppy layers, thinned out or both? and how much should I cut off in the back?

Also post pics of what you think I should get, incase I like it so I can show it to my hair stylist

bring in the pictures so you can show them what you want. Thinning is not a good thing. Stick with the choppy layers and let the stylist do the rest...

both dude...and if u don't want to ask for an emo hairstyle bring a pic of a dude with the hairstyle and just say i want this type of cut and show it the stylist.

Maybe you should try this instead. This is a link to a number of free cyber hair pages that will allow you to upload your picture and see different haircuts on you according to your hair color, texture and style. I used it myself when I decided to sye my hair carker! :)

Your hair already looks pretty good, so when you go into the hairstylists, tell them you want a emo cut and bring some pics of emo cut you see in mags or print out from online...that'll help them a lot. Good Luck!

i went from prep to emo about 4 months ago and heres some advice. when you go ask your stylist to thin it out[[this helps with the 'emo' look and helps keep it straight and flat]] ask for razor layers[[they use a hair razor to make the layers look cool and to make them choppier then scissors do]] if this doesnt work look up emo hairstyles and write down in description one of the pics you like and give it to your stylist. hope this helps!

i would definately get it thinned out and razored at the end of long layers. In the back, cut it quite a bit shorter and spike it up.

I have been a stylist for 23 years, bring them a picture even if it is someone who has different hair than you do. The picture can give that stylist an idea of what you want when you do not know how to say it. The picture will start a conversation between you and the stylist which is what NEEDS to happen for you to get what you are looking for. Just because you do not have the same hair type as the picture it will give the stylist a starting point and if they are any good as a stylist they will know what questions to ask you to understand exactly what you want. You look like you have a ton of hair so I bet you will need choppy layers all over maybe with a razor and texturized, but please ask someone who can see you in person! Good luck!
