I dress like an emo because i like it and my hair's emo style cause i like it, i like emo music, but i dont cut myself! people say they think im emo by looking at me, but are you still considered emo if you dont cut yourself??

you aren't considered emo just because you cut yourself. you're considered emo if you are emotional and depressed all the time.

F*ck labels. Dress in the clothes and listen to the music you want too. I fear though, that you are adopting an emo look to express solidarity with a certain group of people. Don't simplify yourself like that. Being ambiguous forces them to get to know you, not clothing. But then again, being ambigous is a label in of itself. Just make sure your not working towards that end, glossy and easily consumable.

OR, wear completely opposite/random attire and challenge their stereotypes. Option 2 Can be a lot of fun.

um, yeah... it's a style LOL people tend to attach certain stereotypes to different styles (emo=cutting, emotional, etc, prep=snotty, girly, etc) but most stereotypes, as we all know... are false ^_^ also, just because people say they think you're emo by looking at you, doesn't mean you have to think you are. besides, those people sound pretty shallow...

I tend to class emo as **** american attempts at music like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. Idiots who think they are playing punk music, when really they are playing quicker pop riffs. As for the clothing emo looks like kids have just put on whatever they found on the floor. I have been doing this for years and call it the tramp look!

On the cutting yourself note I hope you don't and are not thinking about it either. People who cut themselves usually have some psychological reason for doing so and are not trying to be cool or fit into a scene.
