Layers in my Hair?

I have very long but super thin stick straight hair. I try everything to give it more volume, nothing works without 2 hours of work.

So I was thinking cutting the top layer of my hair short so it has volume and leaving most of it long so it is still long. A similar look is "emo" or "scene" hair, except I will downplay it a little.

So if you do know what im talking about, how would I go about cutting it or having someone cut it? (i cut my own hair)

i would let someone else do this.. paul mitchell stylists are pretty good at doing things like this... the layer is called a "disconnect" but be careful how short you go with it... also.. try a "rootlifter" from sally's and LARGE round brush... take the hair in sections and lift beyond 90 degrees from your head holding the brush at the base (and start by drying your hair upside down til its between 70-85 percent dry)

Yes u shud

beleive me..it works

i was just like you, boring straight hair and when i wear it out it was just flat! i got my hair layered and a kinda emo fringe and it finally gave it volume and some flicks. It looks soo much better and im glad i did it!

if you really want volume..

get a perm and straighten your hair.

if you want layers just cut layers..there are alot of ways to cut layers i pull mine up. it makes it more even =]

Layers in my Hair?

hi i have thin, fine curly hair. so i have to keep it layered. i had my hair done yesterday after waiting for 2 months on my sister-in-law. anyway, the way she described the cut was, old gyspy style shag. i love it. start with as short as your comfortable with at the top, and slowly work layers from there.
